
Community involvement
The Wyoming Sheep and Wool Festival was created to celebrate the sheep and wool industries throughout the state. Each year, we plan to involve a historic sheep community in the planning of the Festival. We are proud to partner, in 2025, with the city of Buffalo, WY. The Johnson County Library will provide information and presentations on the history of sheep herding in Johnson County, WY.

The Wyoming Sheep and Wool Festival committee strives pay tribute to the sheepherder. This is why we want to record your stories, your family and ranch history, and more. Your stories will be recorded and archived with the Wyoming Wool Growers and the American Heritage Center- University of Wyoming.

Sheep Trail Tours
The Buffalo BLM and USFS offices will be providing maps and information for the 2025 Festival program outlining the sheep trails/grazing allotments in the area for viewing and photography opportunities.
